Reconstituting at the Point of Use
Hyaluron Contract Manufacturing (HCM) has moved from its roots in viscous filling into areas such as BUBBLE-FREE FILLING® and lyophilization, and was recently selected as a major contributor to Massachusetts' economic growth.  Last year the company expanded its lyophilization capacity and is looking into new ways to approach reconstitution, using commercially available syringes and equipment.  CEO Shawn Kinney talks about his company and its new approach to filling, and reconstituting, lyophilized drugs. Advances in Prefilled Syringe Technology
Developments in areas such as component materials, surface treatments and filling processes are continuing to boost the appeal of prefilled syringes and expand their use with many of today's parenteral products.
 
Prefilled syringes are a fast-growing alternative to vials for many of today's parenteral products.  According to one recent estimate, the market for prefilled systems has grown by over 20 percent in the last three years and is likely to see a sustained growth rate of between 10 and 15 percent in the foreseeable future.

A Rational Approach to Determining the Maximum Allowable Gas Bubble Inside a Prefilled Syringe to Minimize Stopper Movement and Protect Product Sterility.
 
The internal environments of a glass vial and a glass syringe have number of features in common.  Both presentations are essentially glass cylinders that are sealed by an elastomeric closure or stopper and both contain a gaseous headspace or bubble.
